Syarikat Permainan Malaysia

SPM not Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia k !!!

It popped out of my mind when i watched Masaaki Hirano the judge of Iron Chef... he somehow reminded me of my fav game compendium of 30 games which has a pic of an old man, n 2 children playing.

I remembered looking at this pic, how wonderful to see a family like that.. of course and also i dont know.. but i seem to love looking at that pic.

Ok.. here is a brief history of the company.

==============================================

Established in 1976, SPM Syarikat Permainan (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is the largest, multiple award winning indoor game producer in Malaysia. At present, SPM produces over sixty models of games and sells over 300,000 sets annually.

It is estimated that approximately 1/3 of Malaysians has played an SPM game at least once in their lifetime. It is now the largest board games producer in Malaysia certified by the Malaysia Book of Records in December 1998.

History

SPM Syarikat Permainan (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was established on 26th June 1976 by Perak born inventor Ting Sie Bing.

An inventor since his early years, Ting turned his hobby into a successful profit generating enterprise, gaining worldwide recognition in the process. Constantly looking for new ideas and concepts, Ting stumbled upon what would be his flagship product whilst working as an instructor for a government industrial training institute.

One day, he noticed a few of his colleagues using the English word game SCRABBLE® to play in Bahasa Melayu (BM). They were struggling and found that there were a lot of unused tiles at the end of the game. Ting pondered over this and concluded that the frequency of alphabets used in the English SCRABBLE® could not be used when playing the game in BM. For example, the letter 'A' appears three times more frequently in BM than it does in English.

Recognising the need for a BM version of the popular English word game, Ting started to develop the BM version, studying a BM dictionary to determine the frequency of the alphabets needed for a successful BM edition. Working part time, it took Ting four years to research the gaming requirements required for a BM version of the English word game. Ignoring the whispers and comments of those around him who thought that he was eccentric at best, Ting developed the hugely successful SAHIBBA® and SPM Syarikat Permainan (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd was born.

Ting left his job and started SPM to market and sell SAHIBBA® in 1976. Initially working out of his home, Ting has since expanded his business into a multi million ringgit venture and in the process garnering many local and international awards.

OK, this thing was around long time ago when i was a kid. I am sure many of my Malaysian friends have one of this. If you cant afford those expensive electronic consoles or maybe expensive games such as Monopoly or Scrabble.. dont worry this games are your local board games.

I know u all will say copyright but i am sure this has copyrighted also if not copyrighted can u see many of this fake board games being created.

Ok back to topic.. somehow the games made by this company are well accepted by many. Many great games they have created which are affordable for kids which are chess, congkak, carrom, dam, saidina (Malaysian version of Monopoly), Sahibba, (a malaysian version of Scrabble), and many more.

If my memory serves me correctly, i enjoyed this games with my cousins and family as well. They are great games. A memory that lasted. In the future i want my children to appreciate this old school games which every men, women and children have played also this is games of our ancestors. Those days we dont have computer games which are also expensive and sometimes makes no sense (E.T for one example).

THis board games i dont care monopoly or what, they should be kept as good old times games. I think now during the economy downturn, I am sure many will buy this games which dont use electric and many many hours of unlimited fun for any sort of occasion.

btw i am out of words about this games bcoz they are just simply amazing... so amazing that i cant describe it with words.. all i can say.. try one n see the differences..

Guide of choosing a suitable game console

Here is my guide of choosing a suitable gaming console..

CURRENT FAMOUS CONSOLES
from left: PS3, XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii

When choosing a game console, make sure you know which one is suitable for you and you daily use. It is a waste if u buy a powerful console but hardly play or HARDCORE GAMERS play roughly on a weak console..

When choosing, u should 1st make a survey on all the places also find places or reliability.. Remembered sometimes good prices can be bad service or bad price but good service or BETTER.. WORST PRICE N SERVICE (looks at a bad game shop in One Utama)..

Make sure ur choose is rite when choosing a shop... n sometimes make sure ur shop dont cheat you as well..

Also make sure the console you buying can last.. example you bought a PS1 when PS2 is out for 1 year.. that is NOT HIGH RECOMMENDED !!

This are consoles that are still famous until today and still on sale. From left is Nintendo Entertainment System or NES, Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES, Sega Mega Drive, and Playstation 2 fat and Slim

Make sure you know when will the latest console be out.. also choose the ones that can LAST !! i meant like when you buy it gives you the best for 10 years or more.. till the new console is out or better still rivals the new console.

When you buy a console, make sure u know the generation and the Serial number or code.. bcoz each has a unique number and model. The latest are always the best so you wont get cheated on a previous model.

Nowdays if you console got stolen, you can give you serial number of your stolen console to sony and make the console unplayable to the criminals. Not sure about Xbox 360.. but make sure u know the model and generation.

When you buy ask for ORIGINAL PARTS or COMPONENTS.. dont buy cheap fake controllers or old outdated ones.. it will just ruin you day.. fake controllers tend to spoil fast and it is not durable. Also make sure u know how to differentiate between fake and real bcoz they can be sold in the same boxes.

Know your TV sets !! Why this is important ?? It is important.. bcoz like buying places in Asia, you should know that TV sets have different analog configuration

TV ANALOG SIGNALS

  • NTSC
  • PAL
  • SECAM

The reason why this is important ?? to avoid ur TV from flickers or black and white when you are playing a game. If you have a new Tv around 2000 or above it would be ok n of course HD TV is created for them !!

Ask for promotions when you buy the console.. or better Limited Edition.. You may not know what cool items or free items or free games u get.. better still like special offer..

Try to avoid buying 2nd hand or un-trusted shops like Courts Mammoth or whatsoever similar... bcoz maybe it was spoiled once.. n then fixed it n no warranty n of course spoils faster.

Make sure the console you bought satisfy you. In terms of quality, disk space n etc..

That is all my guide.. i hope it helps.

p/s: Updated.. so make sure u check this one out !!

Hell's Kitchen The video game

Well, I am a fan of this kitchen nightmares. Watching Gordon Ramsey scolding all those poor young chefs to do what he wants.. exactly. Sometimes those chefs are just a dumb-ass for lazy n in-discipline. U know what i mean...

Hell's Kitchen maybe fun to watch but if u hate him there, it means u didnt see the real Gordon Ramsey. In Kitchen Nightmares UK n F word.. he is more nice n polite with bad words.. so who cares i am a fan of Gordon Ramsey.

Since i was a fan, I wasnt aware of the Hell Kitchen's video game.. it is like Dinner Dash with a twist of Hell's Kitchen. I cant wait to try this new game !!!

I heard that it is a look-alike.. not bad for a look-alike to make his voice.. but it is him. I respect for that !!! since now days games cant get copyright of the original person like the Godfather video game..

anyway i cant comment more bcoz i dont have the game yet, so here is a trailer

Here is the trailer of the vid

Megaman X collection

Reviewer: Aiman

a cover of the game

Well can say last week. Looking for some videos well some of my favourite game video or intros. As I was checking out my favourite Megaman X5, i manage to read the comments given most of them said X4 was the BEST ever Megaman series. If i remembered carefully, there was like many of megaman X4 games for sale when i owned a PSone. I didnt buy it bcoz i was worried that it maybe not good or i can say games that are previous are bad like what Xplay used to said. Oh well, i was wrong. Seriously maybe some games were not good as their old ones but trust some still can maintain it's quality until today.

I watched the Megaman X4 intro (end of the BLOG). I was like... wow n damn i regretted for not buying one. Yeah, good old games are hard to find here and I am talking about both Pirated and original. So i was a bit sad, but anyway manage to find out that Megaman X4 is on this Megaman X collection.. Yes it is the collection. Trust me, if u like Megaman X or the classic series this is something for u.

I manage to buy the collection a few days back, luckily the shop has it. Of course now PS2 games are compiled into one DVD also PS2 has become a kids console. Many kids games are out. Okay skip this part. I will just give my verdict about this game.

So far it is a great collectible. It has all the series from X1 till X6 (x6 is the most hard n boring megaman series according to most including me n not created n planned by Inafune). So The X1 till X3 series was like wow a classic but hard for new timers bcoz it is pain to hold the button to charge X shots. X4 is there manage to play n follow the game n wow it is true, really good stuff !!! X5 good as what it was also my 1st megaman x game.. my favourite character is of course ZERO !! he rocks !!! n X4 i like the colonel very cool looking person..

results

Score 9/10 !!!

Positive:
- A good collectible item
- Still maintains it's quality like the good old days
- Has a minigame that was not out

Negative
- Button mashing game, plz use ur PS1 controller.
- Japanese cut-scenes removed in X6

Well here is a video of Megaman X4.
